Diabetes And Gum Disease

Research indicates that people with diabetes are more susceptible to serious gum disease, and conversely, serious gum disease may also contribute to the progression of diabetes.

It also suggests that people with diabetes are at a higher risk for oral health problems such as gingivitis and periodontitis because they have a decreased ability to fight the bacteria that invade their gums. This is why the presence of periodontitis can make it more complicated to control blood sugar in people with diabetes.

The Surgeon General's Report on Oral Health states that good oral health is integral to good general health. An oral care regime with CloSYS may aid in maintaining a healthy periodontal condition. Regular brushing with a pea-sized amount of CloSYS toothpaste is recommended. As is flossing and using CloSYS oral rinse in the morning and evening.
